Anna Benifield

Hands in the dirt, paint on my shirt, constantly distracted by birds.

I am a mother, Georgia Master Naturalist, and mixed-media artist based in Atlanta, GA. After earning my B.S. in Industrial Design at Georgia Tech, I spent over a decade as a design manager in the corporate world before embarking on a path back to what I love most – studying the natural world. As a naturalist, I am a guide, a storyteller, and an educator – striving to enable deeper and more meaningful connections to the natural world. As an artist, my mission is the same. My art often incorporates watercolor, ink, and acrylics. But my favorite method for creating art is through cut paper collage. I love the act of studying a subject, deconstructing it, and then reimaging it in my own style.

Rooted by a childhood of river wading, tree climbing, and wandering in the woods – I have always felt most at home in nature. When I am not creating art, you can find me digging in the garden or out looking for birds.
